I am Patritsia Mrinova, I was born and raised in Barcelona Spain but my nationality is Bulgarian. My family is very sports oriented so I have been
playing sports since a very young age. I have 2 older sisters that have their own families and they both live in different countries, my oldest sister lives in London and my other sister (middle chils)
lives in Bali. My mother lives in Barcelona whilst my dad lives in Bulgaria this is for business reasons. My father is business owner back home which causes me not to
see him very often.
The sport that I did as a professional was Tennis, I was playing for 11 years but then I switched schools and went to a sports academy called Emilio Sanchez Academy.
My journy of being a proffesional began when I moved to Emilio Sanchez, I arrived there at the age of 10 and played until I was 17. I was very good at playing tennis
but the moment I went to the school I started to hate the sport because we had to train everyday 4 hours a day. Even though I had many ups and downs it taught me a lot
of things and gave me many qualities that help me with real life situation especially as an adult.
As an athlete you suffer from a lot of injuries, here I will be briefly talking about mine
As a tennis player you suffer from wrist injuries very often. This was an injuires that lasted the longest out of all. The recovery jounrey was very annoying since
I had days that my wrist was feeling better but then once I started playing again I would have more pain than before. Over time this injurie got healed. Recently I
also suffer from wrist pain when im doing calisthenics workouts so I try my best to wrap my wrist and put ice on them to lower the inflimation.
This injuries was not as bad as the rest. I had some pain for a few weeks when playing mainly when serving. To prevent this from getting worse I was going to physiotherapy
and was doing mobility exercies everyday after the gym so increase the range of motion step by step. This occured from repetitive movement and hitting the ball in a bad way,
I was over extending my shoulder in certain movements which caused pain. I could still play normally which was good but with some discommfort.
This is a very common injury especially becasue tennis is a roation and extention sport. This wasn't a very bad injury, instead it occured because of not stretching and a lot
of physical stress I was putting on my body. To fix this I was going to chiropracter which at first I was skeptical about, but it actually fixed my pain in 4 sessions. I was very
happy with the chiropracter and even reccomended it to my mother since she also suffers from back pain.
Before I started to play tennis proffesionally I played football at the age of 6. I was constantly twisting my ankles and since then when I started to play professional tennis
I was getting the same injury over and over again. I had one very painfull twist whilst playing a match, this moment was very sad because I was actually winning and then after
I fell I couldn't step on my foot because of the pain so I had to forfit the match. I couldn't walk for 1 week on my foot but with treatment it was better and I could get back
to training very quickly.
When I was of an age 6-8 I won quite a lot of tournaments which caused my parents to try making me a proffesional. During those ages I won 4 tournaments which was a very big achievment
for me and for my parents of course. The older I became the harder the tournaments were so I wasn't winning anything for many years. In 11th grade I was playing a tournament in school
and I went to quarter finals, this tournament has many players with high levels that are around all Catalunya which is a province in Spain. Me achieving to arrive that far after not
reaching anywhere for many years was very special for me because it showed me that with hard work your results will show on the court and you can have the chance to achieve something big.
From a young age I have always been into music especially when it comes to HipHop, R&B and House. Last year in highschool I was asked by a friend to join her at the talent show to sing an R&B song.
We went to the talent show which was in another school in Barcelona and we won, this was a very nice achievment since it wasn't anyhting serious I did the whole experience for fun.
My sport career ended when I just started 12th grade and it was a relief for me to be honest. I could focus a lot more on school and have more time to myself. I am happy with the decisions I made
because my parents at first were not happy with the decision I made but at the end of the day it is my life not theirs.
